“I bought a giant turtle plush pillow and tried stuffing Shiyu inside as a real stuffing agent. The turtle is 1.5 meters long, probably the largest model on the market. To fit a person inside, some modifications were needed. The turtle’s belly was cut open, and the stuffing was removed. A single turtle plush toy yields a lot of stuffing, which had to be sewed into cloth pouches to prevent inhalation, as more stuffing would be needed after the person went inside. Then, a zipper was sewn onto the turtle’s exposed belly, and the modification was complete. Shiyu helped sew ten stuffing pouches, but it still wasn’t enough to make the turtle look full. Unfortunately, a lot of stuffing was still added during the shoot to make the turtle plump, round, and cute. The trade-off was that Shiyu often complained that the stuffing was getting into his nose. Even with an extended breathing mask, the stuffing still slipped in with the airflow. So, dressed in a kig skin, connected to a coyote, and wearing a breathing mask, Shiyu entered the turtle plush pillow. I connected her breathing tube to the turtle’s tail; it’s so cute!”
