Xiao Meng’s Bubble Helmet Extreme Carbon Dioxide Breathing Control Sealed Restraint

“Xiao Meng was fitted with a transparent bubble helmet and firmly secured in a cruel restraint cage, her legs raised high. When the helmet’s ventilation holes were blocked, the absolute restriction of the restraint cage, coupled with the inability to breathe inside the helmet, caused Xiao Meng to slowly fall into a long and suffocating abyss. As her breathing became rapid, thick steam filled the inside of the helmet, and the high temperature of being trapped made her face increasingly blurry and distorted. Even after she reached her limit and the ventilation holes were reopened, passive ventilation alone could not alleviate the pain of oxygen deprivation, and eventually, an air pump had to be connected to forcibly deliver fresh air. Although a pulse oximeter was connected to her fingertip, the handcuffs were too tight, restricting blood flow, making it impossible to obtain accurate measurement results. Therefore, in order to obtain accurate physiological data, in the second half of the experiment, we allowed the patient to relax and rest in a rocking chair, without using any restraint devices, and to try new breathing control challenges by putting the bubble helmet back on. As carbon dioxide rapidly accumulated in the enclosed space, the transparent helmet was once again enveloped in thick water vapor. Surprisingly, although Xiaomo’s blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) remained above 97%, she began to struggle to breathe due to the intense suffocation caused by the high concentration of carbon dioxide. Ultimately, Xiaomo gritted her teeth and completed both tests, giving her all each time before withdrawing, her blood oxygen saturation approaching 80%. Let’s give Xiaomo a round of applause for her amazing perseverance.”
