“Manny gradually wakes up and realizes she’s bound. She doesn’t panic. Instead, she looks at her bonds. It’s very quiet around her. She tentatively moans, but no one pays attention; it seems the kidnappers are no longer around. Only then does she calm down, carefully moving her body off the bed, hopping and skipping to the living room, trying to leave the house and call for help. Suddenly, she hears the door open, and she looks at the camera in terror (the kidnappers have returned). The scene changes; Manny is lying face down on the bed, bound like a horse on top of her previous bindings. Her eyes are also tightly blindfolded. This time, she has no chance to escape. She struggles helplessly and eventually faints. As the director yells “Cut!”, Manny starts moving again, whimpering for her to be untied. It turns out Manny is an extra, and the binding was actually for filming footage for a movie. Manny often had to play these arduous yet unremarkable minor roles, which greatly distressed her. Then her agent told her that a media outlet wanted to interview her, and Manny, thinking this opportunity might bring her fame, readily agreed. What she didn’t know was that this media outlet was actually a human trafficking organization in disguise, their aim being to kidnap lesser-known extras like herself…”
