“In the deputy director’s office of the provincial bureau, Deputy Director Chen Li was on the phone with Chen Hu. Unexpectedly, Chen Li was abusing his position to collude with Chen Hu in making money through shady dealings. Just as he hung up, Director Lin Xiao entered to discuss the follow-up work on the provincial human trafficking case. Chen Li was surprised to learn that Chen Hu was also involved. When Lin Xiao infiltrated Chen Hu’s hideout and found Liu Yan’s gun, Lin Xiao knew Liu Yan was in trouble, but Chen Hu escaped during the arrest. Chen Li was conflicted. He knew Lin Xiao would concentrate all his efforts on searching for Chen Hu, and if Chen Hu was caught, he would implicate him, and Chen Li would be finished. Therefore, he hardened his heart and decided to strike against Lin Xiao before Chen Hu was apprehended.”
